It’s hard to believe, but it’s been an entire year since I last posted on this blog. I’ve been away for quite some time focusing on other things, but now I’m back. I’ve come a long way and gone through a lot in the last year, but now it’s time to refocus and work on building this blog again.
So Where Was I
Right about the time that I published my last post, the one talking about Ann Sieg’s Daily Marketing Coach, I had several things going on in my life all at the same time. First, I was involved in Daily Marketing Coach and was trying to build some income through this blog. I was changing directions with this blog and spending a lot of time discussing unique selling propositions. That’s an important topic, particularly if you want to stand out in the online world, but it was difficult to find fresh topics within that arena to consistently write and I quickly grew tired of it.
At the same time, I was in the process of building an online ecommerce store. That was a tremendous undertaking involving designing the website storefront, setting up the inner workings of the business such as creating an LLC and obtaining tax numbers, finding and building a relationship with suppliers to fulfill my orders, doing all of the uploading work involved in getting products listed, and doing all of the work to drive traffic to the store such as building links back to the store and advertising. Like I said, it was a tremendous undertaking and required a large portion of my free time to work on. I’ll be discussing this whole process more in a future blog post.
I was also going through coaching programs for both this blog and the ecommerce store. I spent a ton of money between the two programs, but felt it was important for me to do if I wanted to achieve my goals. Unfortunately, neither of the programs worked for me. It was no fault of the programs, the failure was on my part and my implementation of the information taught, but regardless, they didn’t work out.
On top of all this, I also contracted to build a new house and went through that painstaking process from the beginning of May until just before Christmas. Plus, I transferred to a new position in my full time career. This new position was something entirely different than what I had done over the last 17 years there, so I had to dedicate a substantial amount of time learning that new position. It also involved a significant schedule change from what I had been doing for the last several years.
Basically, I had all of these things competing for my limited free time, and this blog was the first casualty. I had to let it sit because it just didn’t fit in anywhere with what I was doing at that time. I only kept the blog active for a couple of reasons. One, I thought I might come back to it down the road. I kind of like having this little piece of real estate on the web. Secondly, there were a lot of people who had taken the time to come to my blog in times past and leave comments. One of the big reasons why people comment on blogs is to leave a link back to their own blog. Since people had put in the time and effort to comment here, I felt it was only right to keep those backlinks active as long as I could swing it.
So Where Does That Leave You Now
I’m starting down yet another path in life. I’ve recently started an eBay business and I’m involved in an affiliate program associated with that. I’m resurrecting this blog because I believe it will play a very active role in building my business, and I hope to impart some of the knowledge that I’ve learned along the way. The new focus of this blog will be to discuss my journey building this business, including all my successes and failures and the lessons learned from each. I’m going to discuss my ecommerce store and the many lessons I learned there, as well as how those lessons will help me in my current pursuit. Mostly, I hope to have some fun and be totally transparent about my journey, and just maybe it’ll help somebody else who wants to build a business of their own.
So all that was to say that I’m baaack and I’m going to be around a lot more. My goal is to post at least three times a week telling my story as I go. I think it’s going to be fun and interesting, and we might just make some money together along the way.
